The 31st Hong Kong International Optical Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is currently underway from November 8th to 10th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s event marks a significant return to in-person exhibitions after the pandemic, and it continues to operate in the “EXHIBITION+” mode, which integrates online and offline exhibition formats.
The fair has attracted approximately 700 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, showcasing the latest eyewear designs and products. The exhibition features several regional pavilions, including Mainland China, Taiwan, Italy, Japan, Korea, Visionaries of Style, and a special exhibition group from the Hong Kong Chinese Optical Manufacturers Association.
In response to the trend of smart glasses, this year’s optical fair has set up a smart glasses exhibition area. Hong Kong exhibitor Solos Technology Limited is showcasing its AirGo™ 3 smart glasses, which combines ChatGPT and wearable technology. Users can operate the glasses through buttons, ask questions to ChatGPT via voice or text, and view the answers on the application or hear the answers through the smart glasses’ speakers.
Another highlight of the fair is the focus on sustainable materials. For instance, Wingram Industrial Company Limited is introducing BioAcetate S70 material, which is renewable, recyclable, biodegradable, and bio-based. This material has passed the ISO 14855 biodegradability standard test and has been certified by third-party institutions such as Germany’s Fraunhofer and the United States’ Beta Analyti.
The fair also features a series of product promotions, release meetings, seminars, and an eyewear design competition award ceremony. These events provide visitors with insights into the latest developments in the optical industry.
The Hong Kong International Optical Fair is a globally recognized platform for the eyewear industry. In addition to the physical exhibition, the fair also operates the “Click2Match” intelligent business matching platform from November 1st to 17th, providing a more convenient and efficient business platform for global businesses.
In conclusion, the Hong Kong International Optical Fair is not just an event; it’s a celebration of innovation, sustainability, and the future of the optical industry. It provides a unique opportunity for industry professionals to network, learn, and discover the latest trends and technologies in the eyewear industry.
